5 cool tips to increase blog traffic

Every blogger wants more traffic; also, every blogger wants visitors to spend more time on the blog. If you too want your blog posts to be read, then you need to observe the following five navigation tips:

Tip 1
The most important navigation tool on any website is the search box. The same is true of blogs. You should make sure that the search box is positioned prominently on your blog; ideally near the top of the page, either in the header or on top of the sidebar. Also, don’t make the mistake of placing the search box on the Home Page only. Make sure that the search box appears on all blog pages.

Tip 2
Nothing is more irritating than an absent Contact Page or a poorly populated Contact Page. You must provide full and complete information about yourself. A visitor must know who you are, and what your credentials are. Only then the visitor will pay attention to your blogposts. You must also provide a contact e-mail address for the visitor to communicate with you.

Tip 3
You must develop Section Pages once the blogposts start increasing. Each page should list the posts made under an identifiable category. This is a much better navigation tool than Archives. The Archives displays all blog posts made during the course of a month or a year. But it does not display blogposts category wise. Section pages make it easy for the visitors to locate the posts they want to read. You may add a brief paragraph under each headline to help the visitor even more.

Tip 4
An important navigation tool is the Share button. Encourage your visitors to share your posts on social media and social bookmarking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Stumble Upon, Yahoo! Buzz or Google+ You will find that every time a visitor shares a blogpost the traffic goes up. The reasons: all the visitor’s buddies get to see the shared post. A few of them may even start visiting your blog.

Tip 5
You must mine your blog analytics tool to locate the blogposts that have been read the most. List them separately in the sidebar as the Most Popular Posts. By doing so you will increase the shelf life of your best posts, and increase page views.
