Do you dream of making music videos but feel stuck because you can’t write lyrics, sing, or play an instrument?
Don’t worry — AI can be your friend, guide, and tutor. Today, it can do all three for you.
In this post, I’ll walk you through how I created a YouTube Short to celebrate my 69th birthday — with the help of AI.
Step 1: Writing the Lyrics
My first challenge was writing lyrics. For this, I turned to ChatGPT — my go-to AI app whenever I hit a wall.
I asked it to create upbeat, celebratory lyrics about ageing — playful, proud, and defiant.
To set the right tone, I suggested it begin with:
“I am 69, going on 70,” inspired by the iconic Sound of Music number “I am Sixteen Going on Seventeen.”
It took three iterations before ChatGPT produced lyrics close to what I wanted. I then refined them further until they reflected my sentiments.
Here’s the final version of the lyrics:
I am sixty-nine, going on seventy,
Some call me old, I call myself gold.
Doctors say “walk slow”, but I say age is a number, not a price tag!
Some whisper “fragile,” I shout “agile!”
I am sixty-nine, going on seventy,
Friends talk of pensions, pills, and walking sticks,
But I talk of rock bands, Insta, and AI
I am sixty-nine, going on seventy
Some think I am done, but I am not And why should I
I have more adventures to chase, more memories to make.
I am sixty-nine, going on seventy
Everyone, sing along Unfurl the flag, wave your walking sticks,
Seventies is not an Everest but just another hill
Don’t slow down, and prove doomsayers wrong
I am sixty-nine, going on seventy
Step 2: Composing the Music
With the lyrics ready, it was time to add music. I turned to Suno.com, a web-based generative audio workstation.
For a beginner like me, it wasn’t easy to choose the right voice, rhythm, and instruments. Luckily, Suno lets you experiment freely.
I tested over a dozen combinations before landing on one that clicked.
My final command line included:
- Powerful male voice
- Positive, dynamic rhythm
- Carefree, uplifting vibe
- Danceable beat with percussion and rhythmic claps
- Energetic drums and pulsating bass
The finished track ran for 1 minute 59 seconds — perfect for a YouTube Short.
Step 3: Creating the Video
Now I needed visuals. Luckily, InstaDoodle.com had a library of AI-generated caricatures that perfectly fit my theme.
I uploaded the song, launched the storyboard editor, and dropped in visuals. It took a few revisions to sync images with lyrics and adjust timing, but soon the storyboard came alive.

With all elements — lyrics, music, and visuals — in place, InstaDoodle rendered the video. Within minutes, I had a finished product, ready to publish on YouTube.

Key Takeaways
From this creative experiment, I learned two important lessons:
- AI can be mastered at any age.
- Don’t hesitate to experiment with multiple apps — you’ll not only create something unique but also something that makes you happy.
Bottomline
- What started as a fun idea for my 69th birthday turned into a full-fledged creative project — lyrics, music, and video — all powered by AI.
- If I can do it, so can you. Your next song, video, or creative experiment might just be a few AI prompts away
